THE TIME IS NOW.
From the desire to share my truth, experiences, and understandings, I’ve decided to venture into the world of blogging. Starting a blog has been on my to-do list for longer than I would like to admit. Candidly, I reached a point where I had no other choice, but to really get honest with myself and follow through on some aligned action. How all of this will unfold or if it will even amount to anything is a mystery, but it feels like the next best step in supporting me on my journey {and hopefully your too!!}. Am I getting a late start to the blog scene? Perhaps. Is this a waste of time pouring into an already oversaturated market? Who knows. Heck, whatever I have to share has probably already been said a million times before, but I can’t let these irrational stories hold me back any longer from pursuing what could become a newfound passion. I have been focusing on continuing to expand creatively through various forms of expression and using my voice more in a meaningful way. So, here I am… afraid, but willing to embrace the uncertainty. Feels good to finally be doing the damn thing! Regardless of what is to come of this endeavor, I choose to keep leaning into this ongoing practice freeing the creative spirit.
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”
When we aren’t intentional about creating the life we want to live, life decides for us. And, more than likely, it won’t be how we had envisioned our life to go. he path we follow ends up falling into the plans of someone else. Years go by and our heart still longs for those dreams we once dismissed, but that never seemed to dissipate. Filled with regret, we feel powerless in our ability to co-create with all of existence.
Don’t wait for life to happen to you.
Waiting is a trap that will keep you stuck in a place you’ve outgrown and blocks new experiences. Life is happening now and it will pass you by if you keep waiting for the “right" time, which doesn’t exist. There will always be something that comes up that causes plans to change, but don’t let those doubts detour you from diving all in on your deepest desires.
Life is constantly changing and the perfect time is a myth.
Start now.
Movement is the only way forward.
Holding off until we “feel ready” or are “perfectly prepared” only keeps us small. It is a false sense of safety and stops us from ever really starting (we’re all well aware of the sneaky comfort zone). This is an attempt to avoid fear of some sort, whether that be judgement, success, failure, rejection, etc.
Consider what makes someone influential and inspiring? How are these types of people able to leave such an impact in this world? They didn’t piddle around for someone else to come along and pave their path, they figured it out along the way.
Start before you’re ready.
Continue to show up in the messiness.
Give yourself permission to show up imperfectly.
A lot of us are afraid of to stumble in taking steps, but it’s important to remember that messy action is better than no action. This means moving forward with what you have, putting one foot in front of the other and letting it unfold as you go. It’s through the process of trial and error that we evolve and expand.
The journey doesn't have to be perfect or fully planned out to be beautiful. The beauty of starting where you’re at lies in giving yourself the grace to:
be a beginner.
learn as you go.
be open to the unexpected opportunities that show up when least expected.
The only way to grow is through experience which only comes from doing, even if it feels uncomfortable (which it always will).
Greatness happens outside of the comfort zone. Don't remain the same. Challenge yourself.
Instead of focusing on the outcome, fall in love with the process.
Stop making excuses. There is no “perfect” plan. There is no “right” time. Start where you are.
The opportunity to be, do, and have what you want in life. It doesn't have to be perfect to be powerful. Choosing to take action in the present moment creates momentum, building confidence and courage as you move forward.
Messy Action > Perfect Inaction
Challenges and undesirable circumstances will always come up along the way, but don't let it hold you back.
If it lights you up, follow that excitement.
When we embrace impermanence, we discover our adaptability, strength, and resilience. It is from this place that we develop greater trust in ourselves, even if we don’t have all the answers.
My life coach, Lindsay, has often reminded me over the years that nobody knows what the hell they’re doing (and if they say they do, they’re lying). We're all just figuring it out as we go. There's no right or wrong way to do this thing called life.
What dreams have you given up on, yet keep circling back around to?
What is one small step can you take today to start?
Take the leap!
The power lies in the now. You will never get this time back. The only thing that matters is that you just start somewhere. Messy, uncertain, and without a clear roadmap.
It is in the act of beginning that we are able to grow.
